Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Nursing Program required.
Minimum of 3 years RN experience in infusion services preferred.
Must possess excellent IV skills.
RN license in the state of Iowa
BLS certification
State of Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification.

Nice To Haves

Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
Review treatment plans for completeness and accuracy prior to administration.
Verify laboratory values, treatment parameters, and provider orders before administering medications.
Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, care coordinators, and support staff to ensure timely and safe patient care.
Administer infusion therapies in accordance with provider orders and organizational policies.
Safely access, maintain, and de-access implanted ports and other vascular access devices.
Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access as appropriate.
Perform patient assessments before, during, and after treatment.
Monitor patients for infusion reactions and intervene appropriately.
Provide patient education regarding medications, side effects, treatment expectations, and symptom management.
Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient education, and responses to treatment within the electronic medical record.
Prepare select infusion medications through countertop compounding in accordance with organizational policies, USP standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable safety requirements, while maintaining accuracy and quality throughout the preparation process.
