Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing Program required.
  • Minimum of 3 years RN experience in infusion services preferred.
  • Must possess excellent IV skills.
  • RN license in the state of Iowa
  • BLS certification
  • State of Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
  • Review treatment plans for completeness and accuracy prior to administration.
  • Verify laboratory values, treatment parameters, and provider orders before administering medications.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, care coordinators, and support staff to ensure timely and safe patient care.
  • Administer infusion therapies in accordance with provider orders and organizational policies.
  • Safely access, maintain, and de-access implanted ports and other vascular access devices.
  • Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access as appropriate.
  • Perform patient assessments before, during, and after treatment.
  • Monitor patients for infusion reactions and intervene appropriately.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, side effects, treatment expectations, and symptom management.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient education, and responses to treatment within the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare select infusion medications through countertop compounding in accordance with organizational policies, USP standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable safety requirements, while maintaining accuracy and quality throughout the preparation process.
