This position works under the supervision of the Outpatient Infusion Nurse Manager and Director of Critical Care. The Medical Assistant must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the department. They will perform various clinical and office duties including routine patient care and clerical functions such as taking vital signs, administering approved medications, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, cleaning of equipment, maintaining infusion rooms/bays, assisting with answering telephones, data collection, or word processing. The role assists with the efficient flow of patients through departments while focusing on the delivery of quality care. Performance includes manipulating logistics, assisting with the ambulation of patients, or basic patient preparation. The Medical Assistant promotes and supports a positive work environment by exercising productive communication and performs other duties as assigned to support interdepartmental collaboration. Duties may vary depending on the area of assignment.
