About The Position

The Infrastructure Technician is an entry-level IT professional responsible for supporting the physical and operational components of the organization’s network and telecommunications infrastructure. This role focuses on hands-on deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of networking and infrastructure equipment across all sites. This role is primarily field and infrastructure focused, supporting the installation, replacement, organization, and basic configuration of network and telecom systems. The Infrastructure Technician will assist with infrastructure lifecycle management activities to ensure site-level network environments meet organizational standards for performance, reliability, and cleanliness. The Infrastructure Technician performs tasks at the direction of the Manager of Telecommunications. This position works in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with Network Operations Center (NOC), Telecom, IT Technical Support, and Project Management teams to support the continued growth of the organization and ensure reliability, availability, and organization-wide standardization of infrastructure systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job.
  • Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended.
  • An acceptable driving record is also required.
  • 0–2 years of IT, telecom, or related technical experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (IP addressing, cabling types, switching fundamentals)
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and documented procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware in field environments
  • Willingness to learn and grow within IT infrastructure and networking disciplines
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Entry-level certifications (CompTIA A+ or equivalent) preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards (copper/fiber) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Rack, stack, label, and organize network and infrastructure equipment including switches, routers, patch panels, power distribution units, and telecom hardware
  • Perform physical installation and replacement of networking equipment as part of infrastructure lifecycle refresh initiatives
  • Conduct cable management and cleanup activities to improve organization, airflow, and maintainability of network closets and data rooms
  • Assist with site buildouts, expansions, and infrastructure standardization efforts across all locations
  • Perform basic hardware swaps, patching, and connectivity validation
  • Execute minor configuration changes on networking and telecom devices under the direction of NOC Engineers and Telecom Technicians
  • Assist NOC Engineers, Telecom Technicians, and IT Technical Support Technicians in troubleshooting network connectivity issues at the physical and access layers
  • Validate device connectivity, power, and environmental readiness during deployments
  • Document infrastructure layout, cable runs, and equipment inventory updates
  • Follow established processes for change management, asset tracking, and infrastructure standards
  • Coordinate with NOC, Telecom, and IT Support teams to support incident response and remediation activities
  • Maintain clean, secure, and properly organized network closets and infrastructure spaces
  • Perform other duties as assigned
