We are currently looking for an Infrastructure Team Lead to join our Information Technology team. Job Summary The Infrastructure Team Lead is a hands-on, working leader responsible for the day-to-day reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s network infrastructure and systems administration services. This role provides technical direction, prioritizes work, and mentors a small team while also performing engineering and administrative work across servers, virtualization, core network services, and supporting tools. The Team Lead partners with IT leadership and business stakeholders to deliver stable, scalable platforms and consistent operational practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree in Information Systems, or related discipline preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, including network engineering and systems administration.
  • 2+ years providing technical leadership (team lead, senior engineer/admin, or equivalent), including mentoring, work prioritization, and operational ownership.
  • Strong technical judgment: can prioritize work and make sound decisions that balance reliability, risk, and business needs.
  • Strong operator who uses data, metrics, and KPIs to drive reliability and security.
  • Effective communicator and partner to IT leadership, vendors, and internal stakeholders; able to translate technical issues into clear impacts and options.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead improvements and small-to-mid sized infrastructure projects (upgrades, migrations, standardization, automation).
  • Comfort partnering with other teams using a team mindset (shared ownership, release/change coordination, and environment standardization).
  • People leadership: experience mentoring and developing technical staff; supports performance expectations through feedback, coaching, and clear standards.
  • Able to do – this role requires a player/coach.
  • Data centers and/or private cloud infrastructure.
  • Enterprise networks (WAN/LAN/Wi-Fi, internet, remote access).
  • Network security concepts as applied to infrastructure operations (e.g., segmentation, least privilege, secure remote access) in partnership with the organization’s information security function.
  • Identity and access management administration (e.g., AD/Azure AD), including role/group management and service integrations.
  • Microsoft 365 and modern collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • End-user computing and mobility services.
  • ITIL-aligned service management and supporting tools.
  • Comfort with monitoring/observability, automation, and hybrid or cloud migration.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to conduct keyboard/computer work for extensive periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (understand/be understood) with customers in person or over the phone/computer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for network infrastructure and systems administration; set priorities, coordinate work, and remove blockers.
  • Coach and mentor team members; review work for quality; support skill development, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate cross-team activities (projects, maintenance windows, and vendor engagements) and communicate status, risks, and dependencies.
  • Work closely with the Application Development and Business Technology Support teams to align infrastructure capabilities with application needs; coordinate environment readiness, deployments/changes, and troubleshooting during incidents.
  • Support and improve enterprise LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi, internet connectivity, VPN/remote access, switching/routing, and firewall rule changes (in coordination with security governance as applicable).
  • Maintain network documentation (topology, IP address management, standards) and ensure configurations are backed up and recoverable.
  • Drive monitoring and capacity planning; analyze trends and recommend improvements for performance and resiliency.
  • Administer Windows/Linux servers and core services (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file/print, certificates, patching, backups, and virtualization).
  • Maintain data center and private cloud components as assigned, including availability, backup/restore validation, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripts to reduce manual effort and improve consistency (e.g., PowerShell, Python, configuration management tools).
  • Follow ITIL-aligned practices for incident, problem, change, asset, and service request management; participate in on-call support as required.
  • Drive root-cause analysis for recurring issues; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and improve operational metrics (availability, SLA performance, ticket trends, and change success rate) and provide regular reporting to IT leadership.
  • Partner with development and application owners on change planning, release coordination, and reliability improvements (e.g., monitoring, alerting, capacity, and performance tuning).
  • Working with leadership, assist and lead in defining a multi-year infrastructure roadmap aligned to business, digital, and enterprise security priorities. Own the execution of the roadmap.
  • Maintain and recommend direction for data center, network, identity, collaboration, and end-user technologies with security built in by design.
  • Drive continuous optimization, including automation, monitoring, and efficiency improvements.
  • Oversee dual-site data centers/private cloud (production and disaster recovery).
  • Ensure stable, secure connectivity across all locations and hybrid work environments.
  • Own identity and access management across 60+ internal and external services.
  • Govern end-user and mobility services for ~250 users, including laptops, mobile devices, and endpoint security.
  • Lead operations of collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Teams, Zoom) and enterprise voice/contact center platforms.
  • Use ITIL-based practices for incident, problem, change, asset, and service request management.
  • Monitor and improve KPIs such as uptime, SLA performance, ticket trends, security event impact, and change success rate.
  • Promote a culture of proactive monitoring, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
