Latch is working to advance humanity’s ability to engineer biology by improving AI’s application to biology use cases, including therapeutics and biosecurity. The company’s team includes engineers, scientists, and operations specialists focused on improving capabilities and interpretability. The Infrastructure Software Engineer will work on agent infrastructure and orchestration, ML infrastructure, large-scale model benchmarking, full-stack web development, developer and user experience, and process optimization. Infrastructure challenges include container orchestration, sandboxing, distributed filesystems, cloud architecture, and database systems. The role’s particular area of ownership is developer experience and operations, expected to account for less than 50% of engineering time initially. The engineer should be a strong generalist who improves the productivity of others through tools and systems, especially tools that use LLM tokens to save human time. The role is based in the San Francisco office and involves close collaboration with science, partnerships, operations, and engineering. The team has two key meetings each week and additional meetings as needed. The schedule is flexible, and the company does not track when employees are online. Projects are expected to ship well and on time or early. The culture emphasizes transparency, respectful problem-solving, minimal meetings, and judging work by innovation and output rather than hours.
