About The Position

Roboflow is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to secure, scale, and maintain the core infrastructure powering its computer vision product. The role balances rapid delivery with reliability and security in a fast-paced startup, spanning cloud architecture, databases, file storage, search clusters, microservices, and machine learning pipelines. It is not siloed: the engineer may work across infrastructure, software development, and security, partnering with product and engineering teams and supporting operational and customer-facing projects. The engineer will operate and improve large-scale services, automate infrastructure, support machine learning workloads, and contribute to product code. The role also includes customer security collaboration, reliability and incident-response work, cost optimization, observability improvements, security hardening, and participation in an on-call rotation. Roboflow expects engineers to use AI tools to accelerate development and improve security, cost, and performance. Roboflow is distributed across the US and Europe. The role can be performed remotely, from a company hub in New York City or San Francisco, from home, or from a coworking space. The company supports flexible scheduling, with daytime US operations and some expected synchronous meetings. The target base compensation is USD $180,000–$230,000. Benefits include a travel stipend, productivity stipend, health insurance cost coverage, and company equity.

Requirements

  • Production experience with Kubernetes, including building and managing containerized applications at scale.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, including Terraform, Helm charts, bash scripting, and Python.
  • Experience operating, monitoring, and scaling large-scale applications on AWS and/or GCP.
  • Proficiency in Node.js and Python and ability to collaborate with full-stack developers on SaaS application design and operations.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure for machine learning at scale, including GPUs, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Spacelift.
  • Awareness of cloud-operations security best practices and their application in startup environments.
  • Ability and willingness to use LLMs and AI tools to accelerate software development and identify security, cost, and performance improvements.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and collaborate across infrastructure, product, operations, and customer-facing work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building with Roboflow or meaningful contributions to Roboflow open-source projects.
  • Meaningful contributions to successful open-source developer-tool or security projects.
  • Experience with MLOps products.

  • Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools.
  • Run and optimize high-availability machine learning inference services.
  • Develop cost-effective infrastructure-as-code solutions and identify cost-optimization opportunities.
  • Work with customer security teams on secure integrations, security questions, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams on SaaS applications and new product features, contributing code in languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Define service-level objectives and agreements with the engineering team and participate in incident response.
  • Improve observability, alerting, and the related processes.
  • Fix security vulnerabilities and bugs; harden systems and processes to support SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR requirements and audit readiness.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support platform reliability.
