About The Position

PayMitto is a payments company focused on making money movement faster, safer, and more accessible globally. They build the complete experience for banks and credit unions, encompassing mobile interfaces and the underlying platform infrastructure. This includes multi-corridor payment routing, integrations with financial networks, and real-time compliance and fraud detection, all while meeting high reliability standards. The company has a 65-person team based in Atlanta and is experiencing rapid growth. They are seeking innovative individuals to contribute to their mission. This role is remote and open to candidates in FL, GA, IL, or TX. Atlanta-area candidates will have a hybrid work arrangement (2 days/week in office), while others will be fully remote with quarterly travel to Atlanta. The company is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to manage their Azure infrastructure using Terraform and build the platform that product teams rely on. The goal is to codify, automate, and create self-service capabilities for the existing production environment. The role involves a 50/50 split between platform engineering and operational tasks, with a focus on reducing the operational burden over time.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in infrastructure/platform/DevOps roles.
  • Strong Azure experience (App Services, Serverless, databases, networking, identity).
  • Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform or Bicep.
  • Monitoring: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Datadog, Grafana, etc.
  • CI/CD: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Scripting: TypeScript, PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Understanding of networking, DNS, SSL/TLS, mTLS.
  • Experience leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate infrastructure automation and engineering workflows.
  • Comfortable with on-call responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Fintech or regulated industry experience (SOC 2, PCI).
  • Configuration management: Ansible, etc.
  • GitOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Balance platform engineering with operational work (50/50 split).
  • Terraform existing Azure infrastructure.
  • Use AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate IaC development, automation scripting, and configuration management.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and build self-service tooling.
  • Improve observability and monitoring capabilities.
  • Create runbooks and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with InfoSec on security and compliance controls.
  • Work with your manager (Engineering Manager, Infrastructure & Platform) on platform strategy and priorities.
  • Support product teams with Azure infrastructure requests.
  • Manage Azure resources (VMs, Serverless Functions, App Services, SQL, networking, etc.).
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot deployment issues.
  • Apply patches, updates, and security fixes.
  • Monitor production systems health, performance, and costs.
  • Respond to incidents and participate in weekly on-call rotation.
