About The Position

Telnyx is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate its edge compute platform. The role involves deploying Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud providers and edge locations, maintaining the networking that connects and isolates edge infrastructure, and automating cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and recovery. The engineer will manage infrastructure as code, build secure runtime environments for customer workloads, and improve reliability, observability, and capacity as the platform expands. The position also contributes to workload and network isolation and requires participating in on-call support and troubleshooting across the infrastructure stack.

Requirements

• 1–3+ years of hands-on production Kubernetes experience, including cluster-level operations and troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux and container fundamentals.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, NAT, and routing.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation experience with tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider and an understanding of cloud networking, compute, and storage.
• Experience diagnosing production issues across multiple layers of the infrastructure stack.
• A security mindset, including consideration of attack surfaces, tenant isolation, and safely running untrusted workloads.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating Kubernetes across multiple cloud providers or regions.
• Experience with Kubernetes networking and CNI implementations such as Calico.
• Experience with Firecracker, Kata Containers, or other microVM/container isolation technologies.
• Container runtime experience, including containerd, cgroups, namespaces, or seccomp.
• Experience with Knative or other serverless infrastructure.
• Experience with ephemeral compute, sandboxing, CI runners, build systems, or other platforms that execute user-provided code.
• BGP, WireGuard, or software-defined networking experience.
• Rancher/RKE2 experience.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Go or Python experience for infrastructure tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud providers and edge locations.
• Build and maintain networking for edge infrastructure, including VPNs, routing, network policies, and firewalls.
• Own automation for cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and recovery.
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform/OpenTofu and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Build and operate secure runtime environments for customer workloads, including containers, microVMs, and ephemeral sandboxed workloads.
• Improve cluster reliability, observability, and capacity as the platform grows across providers and regions.
• Build Prometheus metrics and alerting for infrastructure and platform observability.
• Harden workload and network isolation and help define security boundaries for running untrusted customer code.
• Participate in on-call and troubleshoot issues across Linux, containers, Kubernetes, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
