Infrastructure Engineer

EisenNew York, NY

About The Position

We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to build the systems necessary to scale our financial data processing capabilities by 10x. This role focuses on reliability, test infrastructure, and deployment confidence, addressing a greenfield opportunity where you will be the first dedicated individual to building systems that maintain quality as we increase shipping velocity. Eisen is a leading account offboarding platform for financial institutions, handling sensitive data and requiring high levels of compliance (SOC 2).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with increasing ownership of infrastructure, CI/CD, or platform work.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or equivalent, including writing YAML and debugging failures.
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (k6, Artillery, Locust) or load testing infrastructure.
  • Understanding of how distributed systems fail and ability to identify potential breaking points under load from architecture diagrams.
  • Experience in fintech, banking, or a similarly regulated environment, with knowledge of day-to-day compliance requirements.
  • Pragmatic approach to tradeoffs between speed and quality.
  • Comfortable with figuring things out and building functions from scratch.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with testing tools like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience with MongoDB, Kafka, Redis, or Snowflake in production.
  • Background in data pipeline testing or ETL validation.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).

Responsibilities

  • Design and build our testing harness from the ground up, including architecting the system, choosing tools, and owning the outcome.
  • Design the automation layer across unit, integration, and E2E tests, deciding what belongs where.
  • Own CI/CD quality gates in GitHub Actions, solving issues with slow or flaky pipelines.
  • Build performance and load testing to identify breaking points at scale.
  • Manage test data to ensure reproducible tests across environments.
  • Design testing around PII handling, encryption, and audit trails.
  • Build quality gates to maintain SOC 2 compliance during scaling.
  • Validate financial data transformations at every stage of the pipeline.
  • Define release certification processes to ensure safe deployments.
  • Track defect escape rate, rollback rate, and change failure rate, making quality visible through dashboards and alerting.
  • Work with product and platform engineers to shift testing earlier in the development cycle.
  • Participate in architecture reviews to identify risks.
  • Help other engineers improve their testing practices.
  • Make decisions about release readiness.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision
