Infrastructure Engineer

EisenNew York City, NY

About The Position

We process billions of financial records for major banks, with peak ingestion around 2,500 records per second across MongoDB, Kafka, Bull, Redis, and Snowflake. We need to scale this 10x and require someone to build the infrastructure to make that possible without breaking things. This role focuses on reliability, test infrastructure, and deployment confidence. This is greenfield work, and you would be the first person dedicated to building the systems that maintain quality as we ship faster. Eisen is the first account offboarding platform for financial institutions, handling escheatment, disbursement, and customer outreach for banks and fintechs. We manage sensitive data like SSNs and account numbers, and accuracy is critical due to customer impact and regulatory scrutiny. We are SOC 2 compliant, expanding our customer base, and continuously adding new products.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with increasing ownership of infrastructure, CI/CD, or platform work.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or equivalent, including writing YAML and debugging failures.
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (k6, Artillery, Locust) or load testing infrastructure.
  • Understanding of how distributed systems fail and ability to identify potential failure points in architecture diagrams.
  • Experience working in fintech, banking, or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Pragmatic approach to balancing speed and quality in testing.
  • Comfortable with figuring things out and building functions from scratch.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with testing tools like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience with MongoDB, Kafka, Redis, or Snowflake in production.
  • Background in data pipeline testing or ETL validation.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).

Responsibilities

  • Design and build the testing harness from the ground up.
  • Architect the system, choose the tools, and own the outcome for the testing harness.
  • Design the automation layer across unit, integration, and E2E testing.
  • Own CI/CD quality gates in GitHub Actions, solving issues with slow or flaky pipelines.
  • Build performance and load testing to identify breaking points at scale before customers do.
  • Develop test data management strategies for reproducible tests across environments.
  • Design testing around PII handling, encryption, and audit trails.
  • Build quality gates to maintain SOC 2 compliance during scaling.
  • Validate financial data transformations at every stage of the pipeline.
  • Define release certification processes to ensure safe deployments.
  • Track defect escape rate, rollback rate, and change failure rate, making quality visible through dashboards and alerting.
  • Move testing earlier in the development cycle, collaborating with product and platform engineers to shift left.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and identify potential risks.
  • Assist engineers in improving their code testing practices.
  • Ensure readiness for releases and communicate effectively when a release is not ready.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
