About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer specializing in network automation and NetDevOps to help design, build, and establish a new CI/CD automation product for enterprise network infrastructure. This role will create the foundational capabilities needed to automate Day 0 and Day 1 network implementations, as well as repeatable Day 2 configuration changes across a complex, multi-vendor environment. The engineer will work with technologies such as GitLab, Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform, NetBox, Cisco, Arista, and Gigamon, while identifying practical AI use cases that improve engineering efficiency, configuration quality, testing, and operational decision-making. This is a product-building role for someone who has created automation frameworks and delivery pipelines, not simply consumed an established automation service. For this opportunity: Truist will not sponsor an applicant for work visa status or employment authorization, nor will we offer any immigration-related support for this position (including, but not limited to H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN-1 or TN-2, E-3, O-1, or future sponsorship for U.S. lawful permanent residence status.) Role is NOT remote In office expectations are 5 days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies including cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, and middleware.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure automation, NetDevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience designing and establishing a network automation platform, CI/CD capability, or infrastructure automation product from concept through enterprise adoption, including architecture, operating models, governance, standards, controls, and reusable automation frameworks.
  • Advanced experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipeline development, including multi-stage pipelines, runners, environments, merge requests, security scanning integration, deployment governance, and Git-based development practices.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including playbooks, roles, inventories, workflow templates, reusable automation content, and large-scale infrastructure orchestration.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code and Policy-as-Code practices using technologies such as Terraform, Open Policy Agent (OPA), and cloud-native tooling to enforce compliance, security, and operational standards.
  • Proficiency in Python and scripting languages, with the ability to build integrations, automate workflows, consume APIs, and develop production-quality engineering utilities and tooling.
  • Experience automating Day 0 and Day 1 network provisioning and Day 2 operational changes across enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of source-of-truth and network inventory solutions, preferably NetBox, and integration with network controllers, ITSM platforms, testing frameworks, and other enterprise systems through APIs.
  • Deep network engineering expertise, including routing, switching, data center networking, network services, configuration management, and automation of platforms such as Cisco, Arista, and Gigamon.
  • Experience developing automated validation, testing, configuration compliance, error handling, rollback, auditability, and change governance capabilities within production environments.
  • Experience deploying and supporting solutions in Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or government, where regulatory, compliance, risk, and audit requirements directly influence architectural and operational decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement AI-enabled engineering capabilities that improve automation, operational efficiency, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, or software delivery processes.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across network engineering, cybersecurity, platform engineering, architecture, operations, risk, compliance, and change management teams to drive adoption and organizational transformation.
  • Experience mentoring and enabling traditional infrastructure engineers in automation, Git-based workflows, testing practices, and modern software engineering methodologies.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business outcomes for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-directed and highly accountable, with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, establish priorities, and deliver results with limited oversight.
  • Comfortable balancing legacy infrastructure support, modernization initiatives, cloud adoption, and emerging technologies within large enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, and implements enterprise infrastructure technology platforms and systems across cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, or middleware domains.
  • Applies automation, monitoring, and optimization techniques to ensure high availability and performance of infrastructure.
  • Manages infrastructure engineering projects and processes aligned with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to integrate new technologies and continuously improve infrastructure standards and processes.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues impacting infrastructure performance and reliability.
  • Supports compliance with technology strategies, standards, and governance to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Reviews and guides infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures to support operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction to lower-level technical professionals.
  • Develops technical solutions with deep analysis of infrastructure systems and leads infrastructure processes.
