About The Position

Responsible for the administration and operations of Sutter Health's server, network, client services and/or storage infrastructure. Collaborates with application and infrastructure groups on implementation and daily operations and proactively monitors and maintains the virtualized servers and network operations, their performance, and their availability. Ensures Sutter Health's infrastructure operations are conducted in accordance with standard procedures that meet service level metrics. Contributes to all aspects of infrastructure daily operations and special projects. This position is designated for non-daytime operations and may be assigned to either the Swing Shift or Graveyard Shift. As part of a 24x7 support organization, shift assignments, work schedules, and regular days off are subject to change based on business needs, staffing levels, operational priorities, and organizational requirements. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to transition between Swing and Graveyard schedules when required to ensure appropriate operational coverage.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, Cisco IOS, Windows Server, VMware, OpenShift, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, SQL, and Rubrik.
  • Proven ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure incidents while driving automation, service reliability, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify system dependencies, diagnose root causes, recognize operational trends, and implement long-term solutions.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively across teams and managing vendor relationships and escalations.
  • Demonstrated success in mission-critical environments, balancing multiple priorities while participating in major incident response, after-hours support, and operational maturity initiatives.
  • Knowledge of active directory, group policy, domain name system (DNS), display port content protection (DPCP), simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP), Cisco internetwork operating system (IOS), operating systems (Windows Server), Windows and VMware infrastructure architecture and concepts.
  • Ability to recognize relationships and interdependence between systems and processes.

  • Basic knowledge of network infrastructure which may include converged internet protocol (IP) networks, wireless local area network (WLAN), wide area network (WAN)/metropolitan area network (MAN), local area network (LAN), virtual private network (VPN)/Firewall.
  • Transmission control protocol (TCP)/IP and open systems interconnection (OSI) model.
  • Routing protocol – enhanced interior gateway routing protocol (EiGRP), open shortest path first (OSPF), border gateway protocol (BGP).
  • frame relay/asynchronous transfer mode (FR/ATM), point-to-point protocol (PPP), high-level data link control (HDLC), multi-link point-to-point protocol (MLPPP) and virtual local area network (VLAN).
  • digital signal and transmission line (DS3/T3), DS1/T1, fast Ethernet (FAST E), gigabit Ethernet (Gig E), 10 gigabit Ethernet (10 Gig E).
