About The Position

The Infrastructure & DevOps Manager is responsible for implementing highly complex software solutions in collaboration with IT Operations, Software Development, and the business. This position will ensure the stability, security, scalability, redundancy, cost-effectiveness, and future readiness of the solutions. The Infrastructure & DevOps Manager establishes and maintains strong working relationships to facilitate quick problem resolution and decision making. This role serves as AORN’s accountable owner of infrastructure and DevOps, leading all infrastructure decisions across the Microsoft Azure environment and its connected services, managing the working relationship between Software Development and IT Operations, and designing AI-driven solutions that are secure, scalable, and cost-efficient in production. Specifically, this role is responsible for the administration, operational stability and performance management of the web application platform and infrastructure, including middleware components (AppFabric, CMS, webservices, IIS). This position plays a key role in planning and engineering of the systems infrastructure related to web services, security, and interconnectivity. This role collaborates with the Software Development Team to incorporate connectivity specifications into production applications code and databases. The Infrastructure & DevOps Manager serves as the technical specialist for middle-tier platform integration and acts as the technical lead for platform and application stack administration. Additionally, this position acts as a trainer and mentor for lower-level staff and counterparts. Helping to elevate lower-level staff and train other administrators as a backup in software releases, troubleshooting, and support. The Infrastructure & DevOps Manager also contributes to various IT Operations functions, including projects, maintenance, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and help desk tickets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or relevant science and math disciplines with an IT Software Development emphasis, or additional equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience with at least 7 years of experience in Enterprise integration/administration and development of technologies (C#, ASP, .NET, MVC, SSRS, T-SQL).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with enterprise SQL Server administration and cloud platforms administration (Preferrable Azure).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hyper-converged storage and computing is preferred.
  • Experience with security compliance (PCI Preferred).
  • Experience implementing single sign-on, LDAP, and Active Directory.
  • Experience working with Exchange 365 and SharePoint Online is preferred.
  • Experience with configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining switches and firewalls.
  • Experience with SAN storage systems.
  • Experience building and deploying AI solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation and AI-powered search.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with IT Operations, IT Software Development, and the business to ensure technology projects that result in well-integrated, stable, secure, scalable, redundant, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Owns infrastructure and DevOps decision-making, serving as the accountable lead for infrastructure changes and managing the working relationship between the Software Development and IT Operations teams.
  • Evaluates Azure platform (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) continually for feature releases, cost savings opportunities, performance enhancements, and security improvements.
  • Creates and participates to the development of strategic plans by evaluating technology, integrations, metrics, data, and costs.
  • Leads and/or participates in various high-profile projects. Ensuring effective communications, organization, and teamwork.
  • Collaborates with the Software Development team to ensure proper documentation of requested system changes, and that adequate change control, rigorous testing and training are done prior to making changes into production.
  • Advises on strategic services, such as service lifecycle, automation, deployment methods, standards, and tools to drive process improvement.
  • Measures and monitors key business metrics to ensure the cost-effective management of the Azure platform. Conducts quarterly Azure audit and recommends changes and improvements.
  • Drives continuous improvement in application stability, integration and performance, by adopting new industry technology solutions.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains AI-driven solutions, including retrieval-augmented generation, AI-powered search, and automation, integrating them into secure, scalable, and cost-efficient production workflows.
  • Supports tools and applications used by the development teams, such as automated testing, performance testing, monitoring, and source/version control.
  • Performs website middleware upgrades, support, patches, and bug-fixes.
  • Assists content editors and developers in utilizing production and development website environments.
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots databases and code providing change recommendations to the Software Development team when necessary.
  • Audits and evaluates vendor and contractor software deliverables for quality, maintainability, and upgradability, recommending or building alternatives when warranted.
  • Develops robust auditing techniques using reporting and automation methods.
  • Identifies and remediates security vulnerabilities in AORN systems, applying secure development practices across infrastructure and applications.
  • Trains lower-level staff in developing new skills and following established department protocols.
  • Educates teammates on backup responsibilities related to software release support, specialty troubleshooting, and other critical job functions.
  • Works primarily on Tier III tickets and assists with Tiers I and II tickets as needed.
  • Preforms other duties as assigned.
