Infrastructure & Cloud Systems Engineer
About The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure & Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying cloud application solutions that integrate cloud and non-cloud infrastructure. Can deploy infrastructure and platform environments, creates a proof of architecture to test architecture viability, security, and performance. Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform. Responsible for team decisions. Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions. Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams. Master proficiency in AWS Systems Manager is required. Master proficiency in AWS Lambda Administration is recommended. Master proficiency in AWS Administration and AWS Networking is suggested.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a systems/infrastructure engineering role
- Must have current AWS Solutions Architect Associate or higher certification.
- Strong proficiency with: AWS Platform administration, Cloudwatch, AWS Lambda, Python, Terraform, Cloudformation, Autoscaling, AWS ECS, ELB, VPC, Route53, ElastiCache, Workspace on AWS, AWS Storage, EFS, AWS PaaS service – SQS, Pinpoint, Connect, Transfer Family, Systems Manager Compute Optimizer
- Working knowledge of AWS core services and hybrid connectivity
- Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, firewall rules, DNS/DHCP
- Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge and experience with Nutanix AOS & AHV, and prism administration
- Knowledge and experience with VMWare vSphere, vCenter administration
- Knowledge and experience with backup tools such as CommVault
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools: Terraform, Ansible
- Exposure to ITIL practices and ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management)
- Experience supporting financial, healthcare, or other regulated environments
- Master proficiency in AWS Lambda Administration is recommended.
- Master proficiency in AWS Administration and AWS Networking is suggested.
Responsibilities
- Provision and manage AWS resources: EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch, Direct Connect (Primary)
- Provision and manage Azure resources: VMs, VNets, Azure Storage, Azure AD, ExpressRoute, Monitor (Secondary)
- Support hybrid connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, cost controls, and tagging standards
- Assist with cloud migrations, lift-and-shift projects, and infrastructure-as-code initiatives (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical infrastructure incidents
- Create and maintain thorough infrastructure documentation, runbooks, and SOPs
- Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams on architecture and change reviews
- Contribute to IT projects including datacenter refreshes, cloud migrations, and M&A integrations
- Mentor junior team members and provide knowledge-transfer sessions
- Administer, configure, and troubleshoot physical servers (Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, or equivalent)
- Management of VMware vSphere/vCenter and Nutanix environments
- Windows and Linux Administration (patching, vulnerability remediation, etc)
- Monitor server health using tools such as iDRAC, iLO, and native vCenter alarms
- Optimize resource utilization, capacity planning, and performance tuning across virtualized environments
- Manage Nutanix Prism Central and Prism Element for monitoring, policy enforcement, and VM management
- Implement Nutanix Calm, Flow, Files, or Objects where applicable
- Perform upgrades, NCC health checks, and Life Cycle Manager (LCM) operations
- Troubleshoot Nutanix cluster issues and coordinate with Nutanix support as needed
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage platforms (NetApp, Pure Storage, EMC/Dell, or equivalent)
- Monitor storage performance, capacity, and availability; proactively address bottlenecks
- Coordinate storage refreshes, migrations, and DR failover testing
- Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, or Rubrik
- Familiarity with and maintenance of backup policies ensuring compliance with RTO/RPO requirements
- Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures, and perform test restores on a routine schedule
- Maintain and test DR runbooks; coordinate failover and failback exercises
- Integrate backup solutions with cloud targets (i.e. AWS S3) for offsite retention
