About The Position

Lenovo is hiring an Infrastructure / Cloud Operations Engineer to provide architectural leadership for infrastructure services and help modernize the organization’s technology environment. The role focuses on defining infrastructure architecture standards, reference designs, and technology roadmaps; modernizing datacenter, cloud, networking, storage, and virtualization platforms; and advancing Infrastructure-as-Code and automation practices.

The engineer will architect and optimize network, storage, compute, and disaster recovery solutions; establish security, vulnerability management, and compliance standards; and support infrastructure strategies for AI/ML, GPU, and high-performance computing. The position also works to improve observability, incident management, platform resilience, and operational efficiency in partnership with Infrastructure Operations, Security, DevOps, SRE, and Engineering teams. It provides technical leadership on complex infrastructure challenges and includes mentoring engineers.

The role is intended to modernize infrastructure services, strengthen security and reliability, accelerate automation, enable AI-ready platforms, optimize technology investments, and support a transition to a scalable, platform-engineering-focused operating model. It is a full-time position located in Morrisville, North Carolina, United States.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of infrastructure engineering experience.
• 5+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles.
• Deep expertise in datacenter, networking, storage, virtualization, cloud, and security technologies.
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments.

Nice To Haves

• VMware VCP/VCAP certifications.
• AWS and/or Azure Architect certifications.
• CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent certifications.
• Terraform Associate certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes, AI/ML platforms, GPU infrastructure, and HPC environments.

Responsibilities

• Define infrastructure architecture standards, reference designs, and technology roadmaps.
• Lead modernization initiatives across datacenter, cloud, networking, storage, and virtualization platforms.
• Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation adoption.
• Architect and optimize network, storage, compute, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Establish security, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
• Support AI/ML, GPU, and high-performance computing infrastructure strategies.
• Enhance observability, incident management, platform resilience, and operational efficiency.
• Partner with Infrastructure Operations, Security, DevOps, SRE, and Engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership for complex infrastructure challenges.
