About The Position

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state. Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets. As a federal Crown corporation, Trans Mountain continues to build on more than 70 years of experience delivering operational and safety excellence through our crude oil pipeline system. Location: Calgary Head Office Department: IT Cyber Security Reports to: Director, Cyber Security Worker Type: Employee Schedule Type: Full-time Work Setting: In-office Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as an Infrastructure & Cloud Architect. In this position, you will play a key role in defining and driving the strategic design and direction of network and infrastructure technology across Trans Mountain’s IT and OT environments. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in enterprise infrastructure architecture, cloud and hybrid environments, technology governance, and the development of strategic roadmaps, whitepapers, and decision documents that support long-term business objectives. This position offers the opportunity to shape Trans Mountain’s future-state architecture, influence enterprise technology strategy, and work closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or Business, or related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT, with the last 3 years in architecture or senior technical leadership role.
  • Experience in oil & gas, energy, or utilities — preferably in pipeline operations or midstream sector.
  • Strong understanding of key design principles underpinning cloud, on-prem and hybrid environments.
  • Understanding of Purdue (PERA) models and how to apply principles in practice.
  • Analytical mindset with a practical approach to solutioning.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams including engineering, compliance, and operations.
  • Strong understanding of security governance.
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications include TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), CCSP (ISC2) or an equivalent credential.
  • An Azure Administrator Associate certification, or a similar credential, is considered an asset.
  • Experience with telecommunications organizations is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain domain reference architectures, standards, and design patterns aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Develop technology roadmaps, whitepapers and decision records.
  • Ensure recommendations are aligned to enterprise architecture principles, regulatory requirements and security standards while supporting executive strategic direction and business goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and technical leads throughout the project lifecycle — from solutioning through implementation.
  • Provide architecture oversight and governance across multiple concurrent IT and OT projects and ensure delivered solutions adhere to security, scalability, and performance standards.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into architecture blueprints and solution specifications.
  • Maintain documentation and architecture artifacts aligned to information management and record retention best practices.
  • Communicate architectural decisions clearly to cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and technical stakeholders, bridging the gap between technical complexity and business value.
  • Partner with Cyber Security teams to embed security by design principles, including network segmentation, identity, encryption, monitoring, and secure connectivity across IT and OT environments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architect to ensure alignment with enterprise-wide technology roadmaps, integration strategies, and future state architecture.
