About The Position

The Infrastructure Architect, Parkwide Technical Infrastructure (PTI) is responsible for performing the design, implementation and testing of the connected systems that comprise the backbone communications infrastructure for all Universal Theme Park Attraction’s, BOH facilities, and non-attraction FOH facilities. The scope of the connected systems range from ride/show physical connectivity; to A/V & Lighting physical connectivity; to campus security physical connectivity (includes BMS, Cameras, Fire Alarm); to GTI wired and wireless networks installation, enterprise/corporate network, physical connectivity, and security. In addition, this role will be responsible for leading the design and preparing plans for the development and installation of the data center and critical environments according to present and future requirements. Infrastructure Architect of PTI will manage and oversee the installation of data centers domestically and internationally. Coordinates with various departments and performs integrations of critical systems and infrastructure and works closely with business partners and clients to develop strategies to ensure and maintain standards across all campuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, information technology or similar preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in data center, fiber infrastructure, or network architecture.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure for large-scale, ground-up developments (theme parks, resorts, campuses, stadiums, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all backbone communications and physical infrastructure systems across new builds, enhancements, and technology implementations.
  • Lead the architecture and design of data infrastructure for connected systems supporting: Ride and show physical connectivity, A/V and lighting systems, Campus security infrastructure (BMS, CCTV, fire alarm, access control), Park-wide wired and wireless networks.
  • Define and maintain scalable and future-ready infrastructure architecture across all campuses.
  • Sets standards to which vendors will adhere and act as the bridge between UDX Engineering, Technical Services, AV systems, RSN and GTI groups to seek to provide a technical infrastructure that the respective groups can support and maintain.
  • This also includes acceptance testing strategies and certification verification with respect to the unique challenges and timing associated with the various systems and standards for each system being connected within a project.
  • Participate in the design and planning for on-site data centers, MDFs, IDFs, PSERs and any mission-critical environments, oversee the installation and deployment of data centers in partnership with PWS, engineering, IOPs, and GTI application and engineering teams.
  • Ensure infrastructure aligns with capacity, redundancy, availability, and future expansion requirements.
  • Assist in overseeing teams of PTI designers, engineers, and external vendors responsible for design, implementation, and testing on data infrastructure deliverables.
  • Establish and enforce technical standards, design criteria, and delivery expectations across partners, stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Participate in the successful installation, integration, commissioning, acceptance testing, and certification of GTI systems.
  • Serve as a point of contact for PWS, engineering, Technical Services, RSN, A/V systems, Security, and Global Technology & Innovation teams.
  • Define and govern enterprise infrastructure standards across all parks and global destinations.
  • Ensure consistency and commonality across geographies to support scalable operations, training, and maintenance.
  • Develop and enforce acceptance testing strategies and certification validation processes aligned to project timelines.
  • Partner across business units to ensure designs properly account for: security, compliance, reliability and high availability, redundancy, resiliency, safety, environmental considerations and sustainability and long-term growth.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
