About The Position

As a member of the IT Architecture team, Cambia Architects design, secure, and scale our data platforms with a focus on resilience and security. In this role, you will lead the architectural vision for high-availability storage and database systems, ensuring data integrity, robust encryption, and seamless disaster recovery. By embedding deep observability and automated telemetry across the stack, you will give us the real-time visibility needed to proactively defend platform health and guarantee systemic reliability. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related/relevant field
  • Seven years in IT
  • Minimum of two years of technical leadership and architecture experience
  • Minimum of three years' experience evaluating business requirements and then designing complete systems solutions in complex environments (for Architect I)
  • Minimum of five years' experience evaluating business requirements and designing complete systems solutions in complex environments (for Architect II)
  • Strong business understanding including health insurance technologies and regulations
  • Experience in the health insurance industry, payer oriented processes and systems is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated architecture experience in a single business unit to line of business or single technology field.
  • Domain expert in one or more major platform and relevant technologies and how those platforms relate to overall technology infrastructure.
  • Possesses comprehensive understanding of competitor's products and related technologies how those products and technologies compare with existing technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex systems integration issues involving many disparate data sources, and experience in resolving them through providing clear direction on scope of solution.
  • Understands and resolves highly complex large scale or systems level problems.
  • Able to quickly and efficiently solve such problems using team resources to coordinate solutions.
  • Proficient at writing code to solve a broad range of problems of varying complexity.
  • Demonstrated functional and technical skills including the ability to architect effective solutions for a growing Software as a Service company.
  • Knowledge of Archimate and TOGAF, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Ability to apply verbal, written and persuasive communication skills to influence others both individually and groups.
  • Proficient in utilization of audio/visual tools to effectively present to groups and capable of communicating technical information to other functions or groups both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to successfully influence and lead project direction and work with peers to implement ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to work with business in their language to support and promote concepts.
  • Demonstrated high levels of personal output and ability to increase the productivity of architecture function.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural vision for resilient database and storage infrastructure across multiple product teams and deployment environments spanning cloud-native, on-premises, and hybrid configurations.
  • Set technical strategy for high-availability systems that power core business operations, and champion new technology implementations from initiation through successful maintenance hand-off.
  • Design and own comprehensive database and storage solutions based on project requirements, reference architectures, and design patterns — including transactional database design, storage architecture, performance tiering strategies, encryption, backup planning, and disaster recovery with clearly defined RTO and RPO targets.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards for resiliency across all deployment environments, defining fault-tolerance patterns, failover strategies, and high-availability configurations.
  • Define standards for replication, immutability, cyber vaults, ransomware recovery, and disaster recovery integration to ensure core business systems consistently meet uptime commitments and reduce operational and cyber risk.
  • Embed deep observability and automated telemetry across database and storage infrastructure to provide unified, real-time visibility into platform health.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance, availability, and integrity risks before they impact business operations across any deployment environment.
  • Ensure database and storage infrastructure adheres to organizational and regulatory security standards by designing and implementing controls including encryption at rest and in transit, network segmentation, role-based access controls, and audit logging.
  • Partner with Information Security teams to proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct thorough capacity planning assessments for storage, compute, and networking resources, ensuring infrastructure is appropriately sized for both new project demands and evolving existing environments.
  • Develop forecasting models to anticipate growth and prevent performance bottlenecks before they impact operations.
  • Develop and maintain reference architectures that establish standardized, repeatable patterns for database and storage infrastructure design.
  • Serve as the storage and database architecture authority for major infrastructure projects and data center modernization efforts — reviewing designs, evaluating emerging technologies, and ensuring solutions align with enterprise standards for performance, availability, security, and supportability.
  • Identify, evaluate, and maintain technology roadmaps for database and storage platforms, tools, and services.
  • Monitor industry trends, vendor developments, and emerging technologies to ensure infrastructure remains modern, supportable, and aligned with long-term business objectives, including storage modernization, scalability, and lifecycle planning.
  • Engage with the Enterprise Architecture team as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for database and storage infrastructure concerns.
  • Ensure strategies, standards, and roadmaps align with broader enterprise architecture principles, and actively participate in governance forums, design reviews, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Accurately estimate resources and timelines for database and storage infrastructure implementations.
  • Audit project status to ensure technical and process excellence, and maintain high standards for data integrity and system reliability throughout delivery.
