About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an Infrared Sensor Systems Testing and Integration Engineer to support 2-3 major programs across production and development. The team is responsible for the operation and testing of focal plane arrays throughout the entire product lifecycle. As an Infrared Sensor Systems Testing and Integration Engineer, you will handle a broad scope of engineering work, including technical tasks, program/resource planning, and technical presentations. You will play a key role in supporting the development, operation, and production of infrared sensor systems, leveraging your technical expertise to drive project success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field with 3+ years of professional experience; or a related Master’s degree with 1+ years of professional experience; or a PhD in a related field.
  • Experience coding in a scripting language to include any of the following: MATLAB, C, C++, SQL, Java, HTML, or Python.
  • Experience in working in a laboratory setting, testing hardware and electronics.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and experience in probing electronics and/or circuit cards.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience operating and testing any variety of photo-detector/sensor (Infrared, Visible, UV, X-Ray, Gamma Ray, LIDAR).
  • Experience with optics and optical components.
  • Electronic troubleshooting of digital and analog electronics.
  • Experience with software control of hardware.
  • Experience with data collection automation and/or data analysis automation.
  • Data Analysis and/or image processing experience.
  • Focal plane manufacturing or testing experience.
  • Project Management experience (project planning), team leadership, or working with budgetary estimates.
  • Technical Mentorship Experience.
  • Experience with vacuum systems and vacuum hygiene.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems and working with liquid cryogens.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the full lifecycle of focal plane arrays, from wafer level to full deliverable sensor packages.
  • Designing and executing tests in a laboratory setting to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Developing and implementing scripts using languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++ to automate testing and data analysis.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and allocate resources, ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Presenting technical results to a wide audience, including junior engineers, senior leadership, and customers.
