About The Position

The IS&T Technician ensures that all technology systems within the hotel run smoothly and uninterrupted, providing technical support and maintaining the network, hardware, software, and guest-facing technology directly enhancing the overall guest experience and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience working in IT support, ideally within the hospitality industry.
  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues. Knowledge of hotel management software, POS systems, and guest-facing technologies.
  • Strong understanding of networking (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN), hardware (computers, printers, telephones), cybersecurity practices, and guest technology systems.
  • Fluent in English; other languages considered an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, balance, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. repeatedly during a shift.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of service, ensuring seamless connectivity and addressing technical issues promptly for both guests and hoteliers.
  • Provide on-site technical support for hoteliers, addressing and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and networks.
  • Assist guests with any technology-related issues in rooms or public areas (e.g., in-room entertainment systems, Wi-Fi, and other tech services).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in POS (point of sale) systems, reservation software, guest services tools, and communication devices.
  • Monitor guest feedback through reviews, surveys, and direct interactions, implementing improvement as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the hotel’s network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, LAN, and VPN systems, ensuring continuous and secure internet connectivity for guests and hotel operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to guest services.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of any new systems or technology, maintenance of computers, printers, telephones, and other essential equipment.
  • Ensure that the hotel’s operating systems, applications, and software programs are up-to-date and running optimally.
  • Install, update, and configure hotel management software and any other systems essential to operations.
  • Implement security protocols to protect both guest and hotel data, including firewalls, encryption, and anti-virus systems.
  • Regularly monitor and update the hotel’s IT security measures to prevent cyber threats and respond to any security breaches and take necessary actions to minimize risks.
  • Support and maintain in-room technology such as smart TVs, interactive room controls, and other IT devices.
  • Assist guests with using mobile applications or services, ensuring a smooth and secure experience.
  • Address any technical concerns or requests from guests promptly, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades to ensure the hotel’s IT infrastructure remains modern and effective.
  • Perform regular data backups to ensure the security of important hotel information and guest data.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments to understand and implement technological needs.
  • Assist with IT-related projects, such as implementing new guest-facing technologies or updating internal systems.
  • Report on system performance, incidents, and upcoming technological needs to management.
