About The Position

Under limited supervision, manages the activities and operations required to maintain the Nebraska Judicial Branch’s servers and associated storage environments, and various other systems in support of the Branch’s data infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing statewide activities and operations required to create and maintain the Nebraska Judicial Branch data systems infrastructure. This includes overseeing system administration, system cybersecurity program architecture, configuration, and maintenance; monitoring system performance; providing technical resolutions for complex system issues; training staff; and providing systems architecture and policy recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining the Judicial Department’s systems and software.
  • Responsible for planning, architecture/design, and implementation of hardware and software installations, configurations, and decommissions.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintenance of relevant systems and associated hardware/software and provides support and troubleshooting for those systems when required.
  • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the secure configuration and operations of all in-place devices to include security tools, workstations, mobile devices, servers and network devices.
  • Assists the Information Security Officer in the design and execution of system vulnerability assessments, system penetration tests, and system security audit.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Manage enterprise IT systems and cloud infrastructure, which includes maintenance, testing, system backups, restoring the system after a failure, configuring and maintaining on-prem and cloud systems, creating and maintaining system scripts, installing system software, understanding connections to other computer systems, and answering questions and providing assistance as needed.
  • Designs, installs, monitors, and maintains system security, which includes implementing security practices, configuring equipment, diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues, and ensuring system security standards are enforced.
  • Establishes, implements, and maintains system security strategy and requirements.
