The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a motivated, collaborative, and highly skilled Information Technology Supervisor II to join the IT Procurement Group (ITPG) within the Technology Governance Division (TGD) of the Information Technology Branch (ITB). As part of a talented and high-performing team, the IT Supervisor II will lead a group of technical specialists who provide end-to-end IT procurement and contracting services in support of EDD's mission-critical programs. This role offers extensive variety, visibility across the department, and the opportunity to work in close partnership with IT and program leaders. As part of the Information Technology Branch, you'll contribute to advancing EDD's digital transformation and strengthening the technology services that support millions of Californians every day. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office on their assigned in-office days. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.   • Ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge in response to evolving technologies, policies, and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and oversees the daily operations of the IT Procurement Group, including planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workload.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Ensures compliance with state procurement policies and alignment with EDD's strategic IT and business goals.
  • Collaborates with management teams across TGD, ITB, and EDD to deliver efficient, compliant, and customer-focused IT procurement solutions.
  • Engages in workforce and succession planning to maintain operational continuity and readiness.
