Performs routine business analysis work. Work involves gathering, developing, and documenting user requirements; reviewing, assessing, and developing business processes; creating and validating user acceptance testing; assisting with post-implementation support of systems; and providing support for the systems development life cycle. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents user requirements, business processes, and problems to automate and improve existing systems
  • Obtains and documents business needs for new systems
  • Analyzes program policies and procedures to determine their effect on automated systems and system functional areas
  • Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.
  • Develops and reviews complex system documents to convey business requirements and support efficient system design
  • Prepares charts, diagrams, tables, flowcharts, and other technical documentation
  • Prepares reports outlining study findings and recommendations following the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
  • Develops, documents, and revises system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards
  • Provides technical assistance and training in the design and modification of new and existing systems
  • Assists in coordinating the development of online help systems, operational manuals, educational materials, technical training, and information programs for automated systems
  • Serves as a liaison by providing consultation, documentation, and direction to other areas with regard to analysis, design, configuration, testing, and policy implementation within all systems.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED and two years full-time, wage-earning experience in at least two of the following functions: information systems analysis, business process analysis, planning, documenting requirements, designing, testing, software or systems quality assurance, engineering, or deployment
  • sixty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) with twelve semester hours in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) .
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure as it is defined by state law.
  • Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems and techniques used in the design of automated systems.
  • Knowledge of business process and systems analysis techniques and practices.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 15-44 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
  • Conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working protracted or irregular hours, and traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
  • Project coordination experience preferred.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
  • Criminal justice experience preferred.
  • Governmental program experience preferred.
