About The Position

This position provides oversight, leadership, accountability, and project management functions for one or more large size, complex projects within the Program Management Office (PMO), supporting the Office of Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), Cyber Security and Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) for information technology projects. These projects typically utilize vendor participation and require complex schedules and integration with other systems. Large sized projects typically have durations longer than 6 months with 20 or more team members, require communication at the Agency Leadership level and have a medium to high risk. This position ensures consistency with the State of Michigan (SOM) project management, investment management and systems engineering methodology (SUITE), perform long-term release planning based on organizational direction, regularly interact with the project management teams for status of budget, quality and schedule, escalate issues and risks as needed to executives and exercise project quality control activities to ensure project scope expectations are met. The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, project management, or mathematics.
  • Three years of professional experience equivalent to an IT project coordinator.
  • Attach a detailed resume and cover letter.
  • Complete and attach the Program/Project Worksheet, detailing each project with length, personal effort hours, number of stakeholders, and role played.
  • If applicable, attach a copy of official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation.
  • Applicants with foreign degrees must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable).
  • Criminal and driving records will be checked if applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be substituted for the experience requirement.
  • Possession of a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and/or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification may be substituted for 1 year of the experience requirement.
  • Possession of SUITE Certification may be substituted for 2 Educational Credits.
