About The Position

The City of Ventura is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to manage enterprise business applications, with a focus on the City’s ERP platform and related systems. Reporting to the Senior IT Project Manager, this role leads complex implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and optimization efforts; manages the product backlog and sprint planning; coordinates cross-departmental stakeholders; and provides hands-on support, including troubleshooting, configuration, testing, and release management to ensure reliable system performance and adoption.

Requirements

  • A combination of training, education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, project management or an equivalent field, and three years of increasingly responsible project management and enterprise systems implementation or support.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C driver license.

Nice To Haves

  • Public sector enterprise application experience is highly desirable.
  • The following certifications issued by the Project Management Institute are highly desirable: Project Management Professional (PMP) Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex enterprise IT projects, primarily focused on the City’s ERP system and related applications.
  • Serve as technical product owner, translating business needs into functional solutions, managing backlogs, and ensuring system enhancements align with organizational goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute implementations, upgrades, and releases, tracking progress and resolving issues to meet timelines.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, document workflows, and ensure solutions meet business, technical, and compliance needs.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, testing, configuration, and release management for enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams to prioritize work, support iterative delivery, and maintain effective stakeholder communication.
  • Apply change management and process improvement practices to support adoption of system changes.
  • Ensure compliance with City policies, security standards, and regulations while recommending solutions to improve system reliability and user experience.
  • Monitor performance, evaluate outcomes, and support continuous optimization.
  • Maintain knowledge of technology trends, emerging tools, and vendor roadmaps to anticipate future system needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
