About The Position

As a General Matter Information Technology Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the IT systems, infrastructure, and end-user services that keep a highly regulated, mission-critical environment running. You will work alongside experienced IT and security staff on real projects spanning systems administration, network support, endpoint management, and IT compliance. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, chemical engineers, manufacturing engineers, nuclear engineers, materials scientists, and physicists. This is an opportunity to gain meaningful experience supporting the technology backbone of a company advancing domestic nuclear fuel production.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Foundational understanding of computer systems, networking, and IT operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative team member who thrives in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments and is eager to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IT service management tools, ticketing systems, or asset management platforms.
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Coursework or project experience with systems administration, networking, or cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with basic security principles such as authentication, access control, and endpoint protection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day IT support, including hardware/software troubleshooting, account provisioning, and helpdesk ticket resolution.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of endpoints, servers, and network infrastructure, including patching, backups, and asset tracking.
  • Help implement and validate IT security controls (e.g., MFA, endpoint protection, access management) under the guidance of the IT and security teams.
  • Support user access reviews, system health checks, and IT policy compliance activities.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, including setup guides, runbooks, and IT knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding workflows, equipment deployment, and conference room / office technology support.
  • Participate in IT projects such as software rollouts, systems migrations, and process automation.
  • Support audit and compliance readiness efforts by organizing documentation and assisting with internal IT reviews.
