About The Position

Under the supervision of the Information Security Supervisor, the Information Technology Intern is responsible for participating in AI design and training, compliance testing and remediation, network analysis and securing networks, and system auditing and testing. As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned. All interns will participate in professional development sessions and team building activities, as assigned. The intern must follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures, as well as all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District’s safety program. This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and college undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Current high school or college undergraduate student (Sept 2026 - Dec 2026).
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and the Windows operating system.
  • An interest in computer and network security.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with information technology is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn the Linux and MacOS operating systems; security testing tools, methodologies, and documentation.
