About The Position

Information Technology Infrastructure Intern - 2026 Tri-State is an electric utility. We have an Information Technology Infrastructure Intern opportunity for 2026. Students who have successfully completed two (2) to three (3) years of undergraduate study towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the Fall are also encouraged to apply. This summer position offers students hands on experience to work in and learn various aspects of Tri-State’s Information Technology department.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure (hardware, OS, storage and networking)
  • Highly motivated self-starter who has a willingness to learn new technologies
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to students who attend accredited colleges and universities in Tri-State’s service territory which includes Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in physical hardware installation
  • Cabling
  • Documentation
  • Service provisioning and migration
  • Setup of monitoring and ticketing
  • Decommissioning of old equipment
  • Data center upgrade for computers, storage and network
  • Splunk monitoring and alerting
  • Wi-Fi enhancement and UHF radio communication
