This role defines, designs, and develops system requirements, performing trade-off analysis of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, producibility, and other system or program requirements. It assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. The position coordinates the design of subsystems and integration of the total system, defines system support requirements (monitoring, capacity, staffing, patching/updating), and analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. The role also conducts independent technical investigations in systems design. Key responsibilities include installing, tuning, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer systems, performing operating system administration, user account management, disaster recovery strategy, and networking configuration. It involves developing and implementing techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshooting incidents, and supporting root cause analysis. Evaluating new systems through in-depth tests and end-user reviews, researching software and related products, and determining systems integration issues are also crucial. The role develops system automation and system integration of business processes. Additionally, it focuses on improving engineering job knowledge through continuous learning and acts as a mentor for team members.
