About The Position

The Information Technology (IT) Coordinator provides strategic leadership and oversight of the school’s Information Technology Department. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing technology systems, infrastructure, and services that support instructional, operational, and administrative functions. The IT Coordinator leads IT staff, collaborates with school leadership, ensures data security and compliance, and drives continuous improvement through effective use of technology.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of network & systems administration
  • Knowledge of RI Department of Education data collection, compliance, and reporting requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in PK-12 IT leadership and technical support (systems and hardware)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable
  • Proven leadership skills at the district-wide level
  • Strong knowledge of best practices in instructional technology and educational systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and initiatives effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Ability to make sound, timely decisions in high-pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Technology Plan that addresses current and future school-wide technological needs and strategic IT objectives
  • Maintain and oversee technology equipment and systems (ex. surveillance cameras, badge access control system, Cat 6 telecommunications wiring) to ensure reliable, secure, and effective operation in support of educational and administrative functions
  • Serve as chair and lead facilitator of the IT Committee
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and administer IT policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure the integrity, reliability, and security of the school’s internal and external networks; proactively protect systems from cybersecurity threats
  • Establish, monitor, and evaluate performance standards for IT services and support
  • Provide technical and instructional technology support to faculty and staff
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development and training related to instructional and operational technologies
  • Establish and maintain device standards and specification for employee and student hardware
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends impacting education (e.g., artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data privacy)
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants
  • Complete and submit all required state and federal education reports and related grants (eRate funding) accurately and on time
  • Support in-school standardized testing by ensuring reliable and sufficient internet connectivity; preparing, configuring, and troubleshooting student testing devices, and coordinating technical readiness prior to testing windows
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for the school’s web-based platforms and internal systems
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
