About The Position

This position is with the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Director’s Office/Information Technology (IT Support). This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. The selected candidate will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency. A background check including BCI and FBI fingerprint check may be required. A comparative analysis and/or drug test may be a requirement of the hiring process. Requirements

  • 36 mos. combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) including 12 mos. combined work experience as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 12 combined work experience in multiple areas of assigned responsibility (e.g., infrastructure, database administration, software development, business process analysis) as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
  • Required technology related experience: PRIMARY TECHNOLOGY: SQL (SQL Server Management Tools); SECONDARY TECHNOLOGY: Microsoft Windows.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, monitors/maintains, configures, upgrades, &/or administers/operates hardware &/or software; network connectivity.
  • Assist with validation of requirements necessary for successful completion and maintenance of the information technology projects.
  • Research, gather & analyze facts to assist in identifying & resolving most complex technical problems.
  • Provide Tier I & II monitoring or support to information system end users or lower-level IT personnel using established methods & procedures; (e.g., operating system functionality; troubleshoot errors; end user login/access credentials; peripheral device setup & management).
  • Document events, problems & their resolution within systems such as Service Now or Project Tracking System (PTS).
