About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Information Systems Watch Technician to maintain and support the customer’s facility by ensuring telecommunications systems are fully functional and available for senior leader decision support teams. This role involves working on a 12-hour shift, rotational basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7/365 operations. The schedule typically involves seven 12-hour shifts over a two-week period, with shifts created 30-60 days in advance. The position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years or designated CE, and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses. Successful candidates will receive specialized training. The role may require travel (5%) and response to alternate locations.

Requirements

  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance is required with adjudication within the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting circuits and equipment.
  • Experience making, running, testing cables, performing loopbacks, installing equipment.
  • Experience using VTC equipment.
  • CompTIA IT Security+ Certification must be obtained within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of college in a related technical discipline plus Ten (10) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience as a Network and /or Systems Administrator
  • Experience at an IT Help Desk / Customer Service Center
  • Operational work experience in a military communications career field
  • Understanding of the mid-range computer hardware, software features
  • Training experience - someone we can trust to be able to adequately explain the setup and troubleshooting processes of our equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for availability, performance and testing of operational mission capabilities under varying conditions including various IT and RF based voice, video, data systems, networks, services, and information feeds.
  • Operate, maintain, test, analyze, troubleshoot, and restore communications systems and services.
  • Coordinate availability, performance and/or restoration efforts with 3rd party services providers as required.
  • Apply knowledge, training, and expertise to determine appropriate operational course of action and best solution set to implement under varying events and conditions, brief customer on operational status.
  • Set up, operate, and train users on various voice, video and data networks including radio systems, satellite systems, network architecture and distribution systems.
  • Make tactical decisions and take decisive action in stressed environments to ensure mission objectives are met.
  • Manage dynamic taskings and prioritize workload to meet customer expectations and demand levels under changing situational conditions.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, efficiency gains and innovative approaches to operations and service delivery to increase customer value.
  • Work with customers to determine operational requirements for future system capabilities; support the design, planning and testing of new systems to meet customer needs; ensure new systems are properly installed and brought on-line for operational use; coordinate installation team efforts to ensure schedules are met and activities are not disruptive to ongoing operations.
  • Ensure proper configuration and change management control are applied and system documentation is current.
  • Safety - Continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment, completing all training requirements, fulfilling self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.
  • Quality - Consistently providing services that meet customer expectations, conforming to the Amentum Quality Policy and carrying out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Procedure Compliance - Implementing general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.
