About The Position

Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking an Information Systems Security Specialist for our Waterford, CT office. This role involves assisting the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in the planning, organization, maintenance, and compliance of classified systems in accordance with NISPOM, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and DCSA Assessment & Authorization Guide. The specialist will provide day-to-day technical support to classified IS, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices, and troubleshooting systems as necessary. A key responsibility is mitigating vulnerabilities on information systems to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, reporting any discrepancies to the ISSM, ISSO, and/or FSO. The role also includes managing and scheduling IS patching, updating, and scanning based on vulnerabilities, threats, or regulatory compliance, maintaining the day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring for all systems, managing user access, and supporting user technical requirements. Additionally, the specialist will assist with information systems incident response. This position offers the opportunity to provide important support to various projects and key systems across the company.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (or Higher) in an Information Technology-related field; or three years of relevant information systems security experience.
  • Experience maintaining information system technology (i.e., Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, Security+ or equivalent certifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance
  • Obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance involves a comprehensive background check. Candidates are eligible for a clearance if they have demonstrated sound financial management (including good credit) over time, are free of criminal records, have limited foreign contacts or ties, and other factors indicative of a position of trust to protect information sensitive to the U.S. Government.

Nice To Haves

  • Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
  • Hold a current DOD Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) Level I (or higher) IAT certification(s) ( g. , GSEC, Network+, Security+, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, GCIH, CGED, CISSP, CASP)
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with administration and maintenance of DoD Classified Information Systems.
  • Experience with DISA STIGs
  • Experience with ACAS/Tenable Nessus
  • Experience with Cisco network devices
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, VMWare, etc.

Responsibilities
