About The Position

Altus Consulting is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to protect client systems and data and help ensure they meet security and compliance standards. The role involves working with stakeholders to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen cybersecurity posture. The ISSO will assess systems using frameworks such as NIST RMF and ICD 503 and tools such as Nessus and Rapid7, analyze system packages, identify risks, contribute to technical product reviews, and support the cybersecurity incident response team. The position is described as an opportunity to build cybersecurity expertise and is suitable for a proactive, analytical candidate who can work collaboratively and independently.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in security assessments, documentation, and advising system administrators.
• In-depth knowledge of networking, system hardening, and Windows and Linux environments.
• Strong analytical and proactive approach, ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and eagerness to learn.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with security frameworks, methodologies, tools, and technologies.
• A relevant cybersecurity certification, such as Security+, SSCP, CGRC, CISM, or CISSP; the company will support obtaining the required certification within three months of joining.

Responsibilities

• Assess systems using cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST RMF and ICD 503.
• Analyze system packages, identify risks, and contribute to technical reviews of products for clients.
• Work with stakeholders to identify vulnerabilities and support a strong cybersecurity posture.
• Participate in cybersecurity incident response, including responding to security breaches.
• Contribute to ensuring client systems meet security and compliance standards.
