About The Position

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to join their Security team in Fall River, MA. This role will support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of technical security capabilities across enterprise and mission-focused information systems. The ISSE will be responsible for integrating security into infrastructure and platform architectures, engineering security tooling and automation, improving monitoring and detection capabilities, and supporting the implementation of technical security controls. The position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance and is an on-site role requiring 5 days a week in the Fall River, MA office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 3+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity engineering, infrastructure engineering, systems engineering, or related technical security roles
  • Required Certification: Security+ CE, or equivalent Level I or II IAT/IAM DoD 8140 certification
  • Experience with Assessment & Authorization efforts for DCSA ATO management, including hands on eMASS experience
  • Experience securing Linux and/or Windows operating environments
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, or infrastructure security engineering
  • Understanding of core security concepts including access control, system hardening, logging, vulnerability management, and secure architecture principles
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical security or infrastructure issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated or compliance-driven environment
  • Must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within Department of Defense, federal, or other regulated security environments
  • Preferred Certifications: CySA+, CASP+ CE, CISA, CISM, CISSP
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as RMF, NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs, or Zero Trust architecture principles
  • Experience with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, or security analytics platforms
  • Experience supporting cloud, containerized, or virtualized infrastructure environments
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible, Terraform, or CI/CD-integrated security workflows
  • Experience with detection engineering, alert tuning, log pipeline integration, or telemetry engineering
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design practical, scalable security solutions
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying security improvement opportunities and driving technical solutions

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and improve technical security controls that protect enterprise and mission systems.
  • Support secure architecture decisions, infrastructure hardening, and implementation of security best practices across virtual, physical, and modern platform environments.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize security monitoring, detection, and protection tooling.
  • Support centralized visibility, alerting, and telemetry integration to improve organizational security awareness and response capability.
  • Develop automation and scripting solutions to improve consistency, scalability, and efficiency across security operations, system hardening, remediation, and monitoring workflows.
  • Enhance security visibility through tuning of alerting logic, integration of new telemetry sources, and development of monitoring improvements that strengthen detection and response capabilities.
  • Partner with infrastructure and engineering teams to identify vulnerabilities, implement remediation strategies, and improve secure baseline configurations across systems and platforms.
  • Research, evaluate, prototype, and help implement emerging security technologies that improve operational capability, reduce manual workload, or strengthen defensive posture.
  • Identify technical security risks and support the design of practical mitigation strategies that align with operational and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with security leadership, administrators, engineers, and technical stakeholders to integrate security into system design, infrastructure operations, and technical initiatives.
