About The Position

As an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) supporting CIS, you will provide security engineering expertise across the design, development, accreditation, and transition of enterprise infrastructure and services. You will shape secure architecture, ensure proper implementation of security controls, and guide systems through the full lifecycle of engineering and authorization. Your work directly strengthens the security posture, resilience, and readiness of mission critical technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field, or 10-12+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
  • Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g., CISSP, etc.)
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph
  • Hands-on experience applying the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including security control selection, tailoring, assessment, and documentation
  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure components (server, network, storage, virtualization, cloud) and their security requirements
  • Experience developing security design artifacts, accreditation packages, test plans, and technical documentation
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to integrate security controls into system architectures
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, recommend mitigations, and validate secure configurations
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical security requirements into clear engineering guidance
  • US citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Perform security engineering throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, security control selection, tailoring, and documentation
  • Develop security design inputs for engineered solutions, including architecture artifacts, auditing plans, monitoring strategies, and secure configuration baselines
  • Prepare RMF security documentation, including security plans, control implementation descriptions, test plans, and accreditation artifacts
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate security into solution architectures, ensuring compliance with applicable security policies, frameworks, and control baselines
  • Support development and validation of system test plans, security assessments, and control verification activities for new technologies and major upgrades
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and cybersecurity teams to guide secure implementation, identify risks, recommend mitigations, and ensure adherence to approved security controls
  • Review and refine security documentation, including diagrams, hardware/software inventories, control traceability, and lifecycle sustainment plans
  • Provide technical expertise during engineering reviews, transition planning, and pre-deployment activities to ensure secure configuration and accreditation readiness
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of security engineering standards, templates, and processes across the enterprise
