Cybersecurity Engineer – Intermediate Position Overview Type: Full-Time Location: Colorado Springs, CO Travel: Some expected, < 10% Clearance: Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship required Summary/Objective Five Stones Research Corporation (5SRC) is seeking energetic candidates to join our established and growing Huntsville-headquartered team.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in STEM related field from an accredited institution with 5 years of relevant IT experience working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD programs / projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in non-stem related field with 10 Years’ of relevant IT experience working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD programs / projects
  • Works independently and / or leads sub-teams, applying engineering rigor to analyze and resolve problems
  • Must possess the ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • DoD 8570.01 IASAE Level II baseline certification at time of hire – no exceptions

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead cybersecurity liaison across engineering and program teams, ensuring alignment between cybersecurity objectives and system development.
  • Work closely with chief engineers, ISSMs, and cross–functional stakeholders to engineer cybersecurity resiliency into all information systems.
  • Support execution of cybersecurity programs by providing guidance, policy alignment, and technical expertise.
  • Translate security controls into system specifications and ensure secure design integration without impacting mission or performance requirements.
  • Ensure cybersecurity–derived technical and performance requirements are incorporated into RFPs, contracts, and all program documentation.
  • Maintain a holistic view of system security, validating the effectiveness, suitability, and mission supportability of cybersecurity features.
  • Integrate threat and vulnerability intelligence into cybersecurity decision–making, risk assessments, and engineering trade analyses.
  • Contribute to alternatives analyses to achieve cost–effective, mission–aligned security architectures.
  • Evaluate system architectures for defense–in–depth protections; recommend configuration changes and countermeasures to reduce cyber risk.
  • Assess SIEM and vulnerability scan outputs, identify weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure System Security Engineering (SSE) requirements are identified, documented, implemented, and tested throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Provide recommendations for cyber–enabled technologies and tools that enhance system protection.
  • Support system test events, security assessments, and engagements with validation, vulnerability assessment, and compliance teams.
  • Lead or contribute to program protection analyses for critical program information and components.
