About The Position

Under the supervision of the Information Systems Senior Manager (IS Senior Manager), the Information Systems Clinical and Business Applications Manager (IS Clinical & Business Application Manager) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership over Unity's portfolio of clinical revenue cycle and business applications. This role ensures that Epic, ancillary clinical systems, patient access tools, and enterprise business applications are optimized, stable secure, and align with organizational priorities. The manager overseas a team of analysts and application specialists, drives cross-functional governance, leads system enhancements, and ensures technology supports high-quality patient care, efficient operations, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in information systems, health informatics, business, or related fields.
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting clinical or business applications in healthcare.
  • Three (3) or more of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a health care institution.
  • Epic Certification in job related module(s) (Obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed as required).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-demand, mission-driven environments.
  • Experience in an FQHC, ambulatory care, or safety-net healthcare setting.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of new trends in clinical management and information systems.
  • Clinical workflow awareness and EHR optimization mindset.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with clinical and administrative leaders.
  • Self-starter with good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage employees and contractors is required.
  • Excellent analytical, decision and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, presentation and listening communications skills.
  • Experience with project implementations, upgrades or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of application analysts, senior analysts, and specialists across clinical and business domains.
  • Provides coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development aligned with Unity's IT career ladder.
  • Balances operational support, project work, and optimization initiatives.
  • Leads application related projects including new site onboarding, workflow redesign, system integration, and new application deployments.
  • Chairs or participate in change advisory processes to ensure safe, coordinated system changes.
  • Works with training team to ensure effective onboarding, optimization training, and competency reinforcement.
  • Owns the full lifecycle of Unity’s clinical and business applications, including Epic modules, third party add-ons, and operational systems.
  • Partners with clinical, revenue cycle, operations, and finance leaders to prioritize enhancements, manage demand, and align technology with organizational strategy.
  • Develops multi-year application road maps supporting growth, new sites, Connect sites, and operational transformation initiatives.
  • Overseas vendor relationships, contracts, SLAs, and escalations.
  • Ensures timely resolution of incidents, service request, and enhancement tickets.
  • Leads optimization cycles for Epic and other systems to improve provider experience, throughout, and revenue integrity.
  • Overseas Epics quarterly upgrades, regression testing, and change management.
  • Partners with Infrastructure and Security teams ensuring HIPAA compliance, access controls, and audit readiness.
  • Assists IS Senior Manager with developing requirements, outlines, budgets, and schedules for projects.
  • Provides presentations and documentation about Patient Management (PM) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to Senior Leadership and other pertinent audiences as needed.
  • Consults with the clinical and business application vendors to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve the related issues and defects within the system.
  • Identifies and communicates operational challenges, risks, and issues to the IS Senior Manager, Vice President of Information & Systems, and other Senior Leaders.
