About The Position

The Information Security Specialist provides comprehensive information security and information assurance support to ensure the protection, processing, sharing, and disposition of sensitive and classified information. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of mission-critical systems in strict accordance with DoD Manual 5205.07, ICD 705, and related federal regulatory requirements. Acting as a technical and administrative pivot point, the Specialist manages full-spectrum security operations, including Personnel Security (PERSEC) clearance processing, daily inspections of secure facilities, and the oversight of Enterprise Physical Access Control Systems (ePACS). The ideal candidate possesses the technical proficiency to manage secure network environments (SIPR/NIPR/JWICS) and the analytical rigor to track compliance across complex, multi-domain programs.

Requirements

  • A technical background in Information Assurance (IA) or Information Security within a highly regulated DoD or federal environment.
  • Knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise Architecture framework (e.g., SIPR, NIPR and Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications Systems (JWICS) networks), and the Information Technology (IT)/Cybersecurity rules.
  • Proven experience with Enterprise Physical Access Control Systems (ePACS), Lenel, and the oversight of Secure Room hardware and protocols.
  • Must meet DoD 8140.03 (formerly 8570.01-M) baseline certification requirements for Information Assurance positions.
  • Ability to operate classified material destruction equipment and manage systematic declassification actions in accordance with DoD precedents.
  • Must maintain an active Top Secret (TS) with SCI access security clearance and fulfill all ongoing training and background investigation requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work within technical environments (e.g., server rooms or confined spaces) to support hardware maintenance.
  • Ability to pass the pre-employment drug test.
  • Ability to maintain DoD 8140.03 (formerly 8570.01-M) Information Assurance certification standards.
  • Personnel performing work in support of this contract, shall have been granted a Top Secret with SCI access personnel security clearance from the Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing security procedures aligned with Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and DoD standards to ensure the protection of national security information.
  • Executing daily security functions, including facility inspections, personnel access control (ePACS/Lenel), and foreign partner (FNP) information-sharing coordination.
  • Operating approved Security Engineered Machinery (SEM) for the destruction of classified materials and facilitating systematic declassification processes.
  • Administering clearance actions, fingerprinting, and in-processing for civilian, military, and contractor personnel.
  • Providing technical troubleshooting and hardware maintenance for secure systems, including 24/7/365 coverage for mission-critical operations as required.
  • Process courier requests, preparing courier cards and travel authorization letters within 3 business days. Maintain an excel spreadsheet for accountability and reporting, submitting weekly metrics.
  • Process reported/suspected security incidents IAW local policy, including preliminary inquiries and maintaining incident files (electronic and hard copy). Collaborate with IT and DISA as directed by the COR to sanitize systems and printers, issue notifications, and prepare reports.
  • Implement and maintain the CUI Program, conducting data collection and evaluating marking compliance through sampling. Document results, recommend corrective actions, and conduct preliminary inquiries as required, ensuring proper CUI marking.
  • Collect data quarterly, review for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies. Maintain databases/spreadsheets to document data collection and prepare reports for inclusion in the Annual Agency Classification Management Report/Data Call.
  • Execute a comprehensive SETA program including newcomer orientation, annual training, refresher courses, and awareness materials (CBTs, presentations, pamphlets, newsletters). Provide monthly training completion rates.
  • Operate the SEM Model 23 disintegrator and perform operator level maintenance. Coordinate service, cleaning, blade replacement, and supply acquisition with COR, following the separate maintenance contract (quarterly with emergency calls as needed).
  • Assist with conducting security walk-throughs and inspections to Contractor shall compliance, prevent incidents, and unauthorized disclosure. Make on-the-spot corrections and report incidents IAW local policy. Provide monthly and annual reports.
  • Prepare briefings, papers, and responses for senior leadership on security and foreign disclosure.
  • Revise and draft new security procedures recommendation for government approval.
