About The Position

In this role you will be a part of the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters team that provides policy and security program support for the security and resilience of critical USCG missions, infrastructures, and assets. In this high visibility, demanding role you’ll have the opportunity to provide advisory, analytical, and physical security support for the USCG’s worldwide operations and key national security missions. You’ll work across teams and integrate with other disciplines and teams for mission protection and success and serve as an expert for Classified National Security Information (CNSI), Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and Sensitive but Unclassified (SBU) information security programs, while supporting USCG-wide information security policy development, compliance, and training activities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of direct relevant experience in information security policy, planning, assessment, and administration is required.
  • Experience must reflect knowledge and proficiency in staff and action officer functions at a military service headquarters level.
  • Experience must include demonstrated proficiency in the following areas: CNSI Safeguarding, Handling & Marking.
  • CUI Program Administration.
  • SBU Information Management.
  • Executive Order 13526 Implementation.
  • Security Violation Management
  • Demonstrated customer service, technical writing and editing, and interpersonal skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to pass DHS security requirements to obtain an ID card and for handling Controlled Unclassified Information

Nice To Haves

  • Prior direct support to USCG information security programs is strongly preferred by the Government
  • Familiarity with DHS information security policy frameworks and DHS Management Directive directives
  • Experience with the Coast Guard Business Intelligence or similar/predecessor systems.
  • Homeland defense, homeland security, Defense Support for Civil Authorities, antiterrorism/force protection, or law enforcement background

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new and existing information security policy and guidance defined in Executive, DHS directives, and DoD mandates to advise on recommendations to improve USCG INFOSEC policy.
  • Provide expert guidance on safeguarding, handling, and marking of CNSI, CUI, and SBU information.
  • Manage and respond to security violations including conducting initial inquiry, documenting findings, developing corrective action recommendations, and coordinating with responsible Contracting Officer's Representatives.
  • Conduct or support Staff Assistance Visits to assess USCG unit compliance with information security program requirements.
  • Developing information security training and awareness products for USCG personnel at all levels.
