About The Position

This role involves working closely with and under the supervision of the Information Services Security Director and a designated Senior Security Analyst. The Information Security Engineer will assist in the day-to-day activities of the department, including security systems, operating systems installation and management, network design and management, and computer operations. The position also requires assisting with the management of daily workload and updating project statuses using work order tracking and project management applications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related subject; work experience will be considered as a substitution for a degree.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Technical experience or technical training in information systems at various levels of sophistication as it pertains to operating systems and hardware (Workstations, Networks, and various servers, both physical and virtual).
  • Ability to distinguish between numbers and symbols.
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.
  • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training with AIX and/or UNIX systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience or training in Information Systems Security and PCI standards and practices would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to users with Information Systems related problems, determining the necessity for and type of service.
  • Technical support of email, firewall, network, servers and other devices may be required.
  • Prioritize projects and responsibilities using work order tracking and project management applications to ensure completion of assigned tasks in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Assist the IS team in identifying areas for system improvements including hardware, operating system and database software, information processing, and others.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of major operating systems, networks, and hardware components.
  • Provide consistent, precise, and timely information on the status of assigned projects using work order tracking and project management applications.
  • Attend departmental staff meetings and provide educational information and presentations as necessary.
  • If assigned, provide technical support for Networks (Local and Wide Area) including hardware, switches, cables, hubs, software, and operating environments.
  • As needed, install operating system releases or upgrades, maintaining operational integrity and ensuring the least amount of down time and minimal negative impact on computer operations and end users.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as required.
