About The Position
As an Information Security Intern at Appian, you will actively contribute to live security operations, modern cloud architecture defense, and compliance automation. You will gain hands-on exposure to cutting-edge cloud infrastructure, automated governance, and enterprise threat analysis. This internship is based at our headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and requires full-time in-office presence to foster collaboration and learning. Applicants considered for Summer 2027 must be students returning to school after the internship.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related STEM field with a strong academic record.
- Must be returning to school following the completion of the Summer 2027 internship to continue degree requirements.
- Ability to commit to a full-time (40 hours/week) schedule for the duration of the 10-week summer program.
- Proven fluency in AI and LLMs, encompassing both the strategic development of AI-powered platform capabilities and the hands-on application of AI tools to accelerate daily workflows.

- Prior experience in a technical internship or a portfolio of significant personal/academic projects.
Responsibilities
- Execute continuous monitoring activities to ensure continuous alignment with internal security controls, industry regulations, and cyber compliance standards.
- Help identify, design, and implement automated processes for conducting internal and external security reviews and control evaluations.
- Assess current security risks, emerging vulnerability trends, and technical requirements across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments.
- Partner with cross-functional technical teams to translate complex security concepts into actionable strategies for diverse audiences.
- Assist in evaluating risk profiles and driving Appian’s global information security program forward.
