About The Position

USAA is seeking a proactive and self-driven Mid-Level Information Management Analyst with a strong foundation in data management principles and technical expertise. This role involves stewarding data assets in databases, performing SQL queries, and implementing data management best practices such as metadata, sensitive data, master data, and reference data management. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of risk and control management, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills. This job may require some post-validations after work hours. The analyst will manage and analyze information using various techniques and tools, support data management efforts with business owners and technical teams, and ensure adherence to USAA internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations. The role supports functions including Metadata management, Data Quality, Retention Management, and Data Security. This may involve working with Information Asset Stewards and technical Owners to log data sources, support Authoritative Data Source certification, ingest metadata and data lineage into the Enterprise Data Repository, provide data quality oversight, monitor data SLAs and data quality index, remediation times, and monitor material modifications for re-certification. The position is based in San Antonio, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Science discipline required; OR 4 years of related data and analytics or technical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of experience in an information management practice, business application function, or data delivery; OR If Advanced degree in a Business or Science discipline, 2 years of experience in data and analytics, technical, or business relevant function.
  • Basic working experience following data management practices and theories and utilizing tools to implement data management to address data management risks and concerns.
  • Intermediate Working SQL knowledge including SQL-based languages.
  • Ability to build business knowledge through meaningful partnerships at the individual contributor and leadership levels.
  • Demonstrates skills in understanding and correcting data discrepancies, identifying data anomalies, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to all levels of management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements across all IMA responsibilities and processes.
  • Participate in and possibly lead discussions with cross-functional teams to drive consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness of information management.
  • Participate in the development of best practices and tools based on business needs.
  • Maintain Information Asset Inventories.
  • Ensure data and assets are classified appropriately.
  • Support the delivery of information in accordance with Information Governance standards and data management practices through documentation, collaboration, and execution of defined processes.
  • Maintain the metadata repository and proper metadata association.
  • Review, validate, and record metadata and data quality information.
  • Develop process improvements and enhancements to mitigate data quality risks, including data quality plan development, implementing data quality rule checks, and monitoring data quality results, reports, and dashboards.
  • Document and update data quality corrective action plans.
  • Support the compliance assessment process by reviewing and documenting failures from data quality compliance assessment checks.
  • Recommend Master and Reference Data processes and procedures to align with Enterprise Policies and Standards.
  • Create and maintain reference data in accordance with defined processes and procedures.
  • Manage the quality and maintenance of master data as it is created.
  • Help define and drive implementation of processes and enhancements to mitigate data quality risks.
  • Support the compliance assessment process by identifying and escalating items that may be a risk to the corporation.
  • Support Privacy initiatives through classification, tagging, and analysis of sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance and remediation of sensitive data in accordance with defined policies and processes.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
