About The Position

The Information Literacy Librarian is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of major library activities including information literacy instruction, tools, and research services. This role also participates in library assessment planning and data collection. In collaboration with other professional staff, the librarian will contribute to setting library-wide policies, determining library directions, and developing performance measures. The position requires a commitment to the mission and values of Alvernia University, including advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Academic library experience in reference services, information literacy instruction, and library assessment and data collection.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff; utilizes excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt and lead in a changing library environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Ability to effectively supervise student workers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, present, and coordinate library information literacy instruction.
  • Work with faculty to provide information literacy sessions.
  • Participate in library assessment activities including planning, measurement, and analysis of data.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of library resources and services assessment and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in digital and print collection development activities, and act as library liaison with the faculty in assigned academic areas.
  • Lead reference staffing and tracking.
  • Provide reference assistance to students, faculty, staff and community patrons.
  • Develop, update, and publish information literacy guides and other resources in all formats for the Franco Library.
  • Train and manage a graduate assistant to populate and monitor all aspects of the library’s social media presence.
  • Hire, train and supervise the library’s Graduate Assistants.
  • Maintain library's webpage.
  • Assist with technical services operations.
  • Educate and assist faculty with Open Educational Resources (OER).
  • Engage with the university community through committee work, displays, service activities, etc.
  • Create and maintain library’s information literacy video collection.
