About The Position

VTG is seeking an Information Engineer to support our customer. Under broad direction, this role designs and implements data processing systems that meet customer business needs, leads and participates in system design teams, and plans, schedules, and coordinates project implementations to ensure customer requirements are met. The Information Engineer will assist others on technical or industry-related issues, anticipate customer problems, and recommend solutions. This role applies business process improvement practices, activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis, and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques. Additionally, the Information Engineer will assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures, develop and apply organization-wide information models for integrated software and database management systems, and construct sound, logical business improvement opportunities consistent with corporate Information Management guiding principles, cost savings, and open system architecture objectives. This position provides daily supervision and direction to staff. The role also involves planning, developing, and implementing high-tech solutions to increase security and defend against cyber threats, overseeing the monitoring of computer networks, identifying security issues, and anticipating security breaches. Responsibilities include executing the installation and maintenance of security programs, plans, and software, assuring the protection of the organization's data and infrastructure, investigating and analyzing security breaches to determine the source and assess damage, and documenting all parts of security incidents. The Information Engineer will perform assessments and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities, troubleshoot security and network problems, and respond to breaches. This role oversees security technology and audit or intrusion systems, develops and handles secure network solutions, and stays informed about industry security trends, developments, and government regulations.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a technical discipline
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Must have and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Eligible for a Top Secret clearance

  • Develops and applies organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated, shared software and database management systems.
  • Constructs sound, logical business improvement opportunities consistent with corporate Information Management guiding principles, cost savings, and open system architecture objectives.
  • Provides daily supervision and direction to staff.
  • Plans, develops, and implements proven high-tech solutions to increase security and defend against hacking, malware and ransomware, insider threats, and other types of cybercrimes.
  • Oversees monitoring of computer networks, identifies security issues, and anticipates security breaches.
  • Executes the installation and maintenance of security programs, plans, and software, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
  • Assures protection of the organization's data and infrastructure by enabling the appropriate security controls.
  • Investigates and analyzes security breaches and cyber security incidents to determine the source of the issues, and assesses the damaged caused.
  • Documents all parts of security incidents or breaches.
  • Performs assessments and penetration tests to identify network and system vulnerabilities, troubleshoots security and network problems, determines the best way to avoid them, and responds to system or network security breaches.
  • Oversees security technology and audit or intrusion systems.
  • Develops and handles secure network solutions to protect against advanced persistent threats.
  • Keeps abreast of industry security trends and developments, as well as applicable government regulations.
