About The Position

Monroe County Hospital is seeking a professional and customer-focused Information Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff. This role is responsible for providing exceptional service, managing incoming communications, and supporting patient access functions to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Answers, receives and directs calls appropriately.
  • Greets and assists the public in person and or via phone; refers inquiries as needed i.e. when necessary, to the appropriate person, official, or department.
  • Releases patient information as permitted by hospital policy.
  • Operates listed office machines as required.
  • Assists the public with facility navigation and resources.
  • Provides coverage for admissions, performing duties such as: Interviewing patients or representatives to gather required information, Obtaining and documenting required consent and signatures, Entering and maintaining electronic and written patient information, Verifying insurance information, Explaining hospital procedures and policies, Assisting patient flow and escorting to departments, Responding to patient/staff/visitor needs, Referring patients to appropriate community resources.
  • Maintaining patient/ visitor log.
  • Processing payments, issuing receipts, and managing petty cash.
  • Handling internal/external communications professionally.
  • Paging medical and emergency codes clearly and effectively.
  • Running daily registration quality checks.
  • Controlling after-hours visitor access.
  • Upholding HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Resolving problems and collaborating with staff on a routine basis.
  • Participating in ad hoc special projects and generating reports.
