About The Position

Greets and assists customers. Assists in clerical management and patient flow of the area. Secures valid data for the completeness of inpatient and outpatient admissions. Contributes to the management of patient care data through oral and written communication.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to perform general office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to use a personal computer (word processing and spreadsheet application) if required.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A course in hospital unit management.
  • Previous experience with MIS System and/or experience as a secretary in a medical setting.
  • Medical terminology course.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Applications.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers and provides with information.
  • Answers phone and intercom system properly and delivers messages promptly and accurately.
  • Orients patient/family to patient area, visiting hours and policies.
  • Receives patients for admission.
  • Assists in collection and reporting of statistical data.
  • Coordinates patient flow throughout the department.
  • Completes the admission process per policy.
  • Verifies accuracy and makes corrections to proper codes and/or demographic information at time of admission for all established patients.
  • Acts as a liaison to ensure needs are communicated to the appropriate provider.
  • Receives orders accurately and timely.
  • Ensures proper communication to healthcare provider and other departments obtains orders to meet patient/unit needs.
