About The Position

As an Information Analyst III, you'll transform complex data into actionable insights that drive smarter decisions and meaningful business outcomes. Partnering with stakeholders across the organization, you'll uncover trends, solve complex challenges, and deliver analytics and reporting that support strategic initiatives, enhance experiences, improve operational performance, and advance organizational success. Your work will directly influence decisions that help Premera remain innovative, competitive, and member focused. This is a remote/telecommuter position working from home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Health Care Administration, or a related field, or (4) years of work experience.
  • (5) years of experience in a data analytics and/or reporting role.
  • Thorough knowledge of a reporting or query programming language, relational databases, and/or related software packages; significant experience in data management and technical writing.
  • Excellent problem definition, problem solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with management at all levels.
  • Demonstrated to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to lead work teams to accomplish specific project goals.
  • Significant knowledge of health care and the health care industry; knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.

Nice To Haves

  • (3) years of experience in a healthcare discipline.
  • Strong SQL, Excel, Python, and Access skills.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with business partners on the most complex business topics to determine business needs and report requirements to provide appropriate solutions through extracting and analyzing data for the purpose of increasing revenue, decreasing costs, and/or complying with regulations; organize other analysts and monitor technical efforts to accomplish specific goals.
  • Design, develop, document, maintain, and review data extract reports and analyses created from complex ad hoc requests submitted by Underwriting management.
  • Peer review the work of others in the department and others throughout the company; assess the peer review skills and processes of departments throughout the company and work with those departments on process improvements.
  • Recommend and evaluate improvements to operational databases, data quality, and productivity; organize and implement changes; train team members.
  • Test and document results consistent with department standards; review the work of others for completeness; create and maintain documentation standards.
  • Develop dashboards to streamline communication of key data metrics and trends.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems, assessing alternatives as appropriate, and implement solutions; identify, analyze, and research errors found during peer review; evaluate new procedures; direct work with other departments to implement solutions.
