About The Position

The Clinical Informaticist supports the decision‑making of healthcare consumers, nurses, and interdisciplinary professionals across all care settings to promote patient safety, advocacy, and high‑quality care. This role leverages data analytics and quality measures to support population health outcomes and informed clinical practice. Using strong process improvement and change management skills, the Clinical Informaticist drives improvements in care quality and operational efficiency through the effective use of technology. The position evaluates the impact of technological changes on patient safety, care delivery, quality reporting, and the nursing process, and collaborates in the design, implementation, and promotion of innovative health information technologies that advance practice and achieve desired clinical and organizational outcomes. This role supports the adult patient population across the IU Health metro region, including North, West, Fishers, and University locations. The Clinical Informaticist rotates rounding responsibilities across assigned teams and sites based on active projects and organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as a health care professional (e.g., Registered Nurse with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license, Dietitian, Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, or other).
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience required.

  • Experienced user of health information technology systems preferred.
