About The Position

Saint Luke's Health System is seeking an Infectious Disease Physician to diagnose, treat, and prevent communicable diseases. This role involves providing comprehensive care for both acute and chronic infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The physician will consult with a large number of patients at both Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City and the Saint Luke’s Infectious Disease Clinic, evaluating and treating patients with a wide range of serious conditions. Responsibilities include diagnosing unknown infections, managing complex communicable diseases, counseling patients on antimicrobial agents, antibiotic resistance, and vaccines, and treating immunocompromised patients at high risk for serious infection. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or foreign equivalent
  • Completed a fellowship in Infectious Disease
  • Completed a fellowship in Transplant Infectious Disease
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Missouri medical license by the time of appointment
  • Less than 1 year of applicable experience

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, treat & prevent communicable diseases
  • Offer comprehensive care for both acute & chronic infections caused by a variety of microorganisms including bacteria, viruses, and fungi
  • Consult with a large number of patients at both Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City and the Saint Luke’s Infectious Disease Clinic
  • Evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of serious conditions including infections and infectious diseases
  • Diagnose unknown infections and manage the care of patients with complex communicable diseases
  • Counsel patients on antimicrobial agents, antibiotic resistance, vaccines, and other immunobiological agents
  • Treat immunocompromised patients with high risk for serious infection
