About The Position

Infectious Disease Physician Complex infection does not wait for a perfect chart. Requirements

  • Active medical license and eligibility for hospital privileges and DEA registration.
  • A record of stewardship or infection-prevention leadership tied to measurable antibiotic or outcome change.
  • Hands-on care of ICU, surgical, or immunocompromised patients, including outbreak or cluster response.
  • Consult notes and bedside communication that change the plan the same day.
  • Comfort teaching trainees and APPs while remaining accountable for the recommendation.

Responsibilities

  • Shorten time to effective therapy for bloodstream, device-related, and opportunistic infections by directing the workup and first treatment decision.
  • Reduce unnecessary broad-spectrum antibiotic days through stewardship recommendations that clinicians actually follow.
  • Contain clusters and outbreaks by identifying the source, advising isolation and source control, and closing the loop with infection prevention.
  • Lower infection-related complications and readmissions among ICU, surgical, and immunocompromised patients through timely consults.
  • Build reliable referral paths so complex cases reach you before they deteriorate.
  • Make consult advice consistent across the service by coaching residents, APPs, and hospital teams on evidence-based plans.
  • Report infection trends and stewardship results to medical leadership so practice changes are visible, not anecdotal.
